International Superstar Alicia Keys Added to the 2007 Turks & Caicos Music and Cultural Festival
 

PROVIDENCIALES, TURKS AND CAICOS ISLANDS (Tuesday July 3, 2007) – The Turks & Caicos Tourist Board today announced that superstar Alicia Keys has been added to the artist lineup of the fourth annual Turks & Caicos Music and Cultural Festival. The star-studded event is set to take place July 30 to August 6, 2007 at Turtle Cove Marina on Providenciales.

“We are thrilled that Alicia will be able to join us at this year’s festival,” said Ralph Higgs, Director of Tourism; Marketing at the Turks & Caicos Tourist Board. “Alicia’s incredible talent and inspiring spirit fits right into the collection of extraordinary artists already performing at the event. She is a world-renowned artist and traveler and we are very proud to welcome her to the Turks & Caicos Islands.”

Alicia Keys has sold 28 million albums and singles worldwide and is a nine-time Grammy Award winning R & B and soul singer, songwriter, actress and pianist. During her career, Keys has also won eleven Billboard Music Awards, three American Music Awards, three World Music Awards, and two MTV Video Music Awards.

Other A-list artists performing at the Turks & Caicos Music and Cultural Festival include five-time Grammy award winner John Legend, American superstar and multiple Grammy winner Michael Bolton, eloquent American soul artist and two-time Grammy Award winner India.Arie, country music genius and CMA lifetime achievement award winner Kenny Rogers, R&B American soul singer Freddie Jackson and an incredible and diverse range of the best of Turks & Caicos performers.

Honorable Wayne Garland, the Executive Chairman for the Tourist Board is positive that the addition of Alicia Keys cements the status of this year’s lineup as the best ever. “Getting Alicia Keys to Turks & Caicos is a huge accomplishment for our Festival. We have worked hard to bring the world’s best performers to Turks & Caicos, and believe that this year’s lineup is the best one ever. Being able to promote such international superstars like we have for this year’s Festival, allow us to further position Turks & Caicos as the premiere destination in the Caribbean.”

Now in its 4th year, the Annual Music and Cultural Festival is seen as the largest and most popular entertainment event of the year in Turks and Caicos. The schedule of events centers around the annual Miss Turks & Caicos Beauty Pageant, The Little Miss Turks & Caicos Pageant and includes four nights of great live music and concerts, a boat regatta and other great cultural events that make it a week long series of activities that is sure to please even the most discerning tastes.

The 2007 Festival encompasses international superstars, great artists from Turks & Caicos, and musical legends from across the Caribbean. And, this year’s Festival also includes a night of comedy with international comedians from across the world lightening everyone’s spirits.

The Annual Music and Cultural Festival is put on by The Turks and Caicos Tourist Board and was first introduced in 2003 and now boasts a following of over 8,000 people. This year the event returns to the breathtaking backdrop of the Turtle Cove Marina, in Providenciales. Tickets are $75 per night for Thursday through Sunday nights, with four-day weekend passes available for only $275. This year the Festival is pleased to provide ample opportunities for youngsters to attend with special children’s prices (for kids under 12 years) of only $10, but these special kids prices are only available at the gate on the day of performance. Tickets are $20 for Tuesday night’s Little Miss Turks & Caicos festivities and $25 for Wednesday evening’s presentation of the Miss Turks & Caicos Costume & Swimsuit competition. Tickets to Tuesday and Wednesday night events are only $1.00 each for children under 12 years.
